Purchased a Vehicle?
I’ve Just Purchased a Car, What Do I Need to Bring?
If you purchased it from an Idaho Dealer, you will need:
- The pink Application for Title document the dealer must give you which is referred to as a “502” document.
- This document has all the vehicle info we need and is the only document we need, but we encourage you to bring all your dealer paperwork to avoid another trip to our office.
If you purchased from an out-of-state dealer, you will need:
- All the paperwork the dealer gave you so that we can find the documents we need.
- The Vehicle, so we can perform a VIN inspection.
- Law enforcement can also perform VIN inspections (just make sure to bring the form they give you).
- Driver’s licenses or IDs for all people on the title.
- If someone going on the title is not available, we need a copy of their driver's license or ID.
- If all owners on the title do not have an ID or driver's license, please have social security numbers and birthdates available so that we can properly build an ID credential.
If you Purchased it through a Private Party, you will need:
- The Printed Title from the Owner/Seller properly signed off.
- A Bill of Sale from the Owner/Seller.
- You can post the Bill of Sale in your back window to act as a Temporary Registration for 72 business hours from the date of purchase in the state of Idaho.
