Voter Turnout

Since 2002, General Election voter turnout percentages have ranged from 54% in non-presidential election years to 89% for years that included a presidential election.

If we look at registered voters as a percentage of our population, we see that 81% of adults aged 18 and over in Kootenai County were registered to vote in the 2020 General Election.  If we look at the number who actually voted, only 45% of adults aged 18 and over voted in Kootenai County in the 2022 General Election.  In our Primary Elections, the voter turnout drops drastically.  Since 2000, we have averaged approximately 27% of our registered voters voting in the election.
