Advisory Board Volunteer

September 18, 2023 – Kootenai County is pleased to announce that the annual application period for our advisory boards is now open. We are looking for citizens who are interested in serving their community on a volunteer basis by considering projects, ideas, and questions on a varied number of topics. These boards offer the public a greater impact on local decision-making by providing recommendations directly to the Board of County Commissioners. At this time, we are accepting applications for the following advisory boards:

• Airport Board
• Aquifer Protection District Committee
• Board of Community Guardian (4-year term)
• Historic Preservation Commission
• Natural Resource Board
• North Idaho Fair Board
• Noxious Weed Control Board (2-year term)
• Planning & Zoning Commission
• Snowmobile Board
• Waterways Board

Applicants may be asked to interview with the Board of Commissioners. Selected members will be appointed with terms that start 1/01/24 (The Fair Board starts (1/15/24 per I.C). (All Board Members serve three-year terms, unless noted)

Interested citizens may obtain an application by going to the County website at:

Applications must be received no later than 5:00pm on October 27, 2023.
