Riverstone Transit Center

Since 2005, the Riverstone Transit Center has served as the primary operational location for the Kootenai County Public Transportation system (Citylink North). The Riverstone multi-modal transit hub includes a trailhead for the North Idaho Centennial Trail, which is 23 miles long and extends from the Idaho/Washington state line to Higgins Point, six (6) miles east of Coeur d’Alene at the end of Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive. The Riverstone facility includes 80 parking stalls, a covered outdoor waiting area, public restrooms, office space, multi-purpose conference room, dispatch office, and driver breakroom.

In 2019, Citylink North provided 154,972 unlinked passenger trips (regular route bus and demand response) throughout the cities of Coeur d’Alene, Dalton Gardens, Fernan, Hayden, Huetter, and Post Falls.

Post Falls DMV Parking Lot Project

This construction project provided dedicated parking for citizens with boats, utility trailers, travel trailers and larger motorhomes or trucks. The Post Falls DMV project added 16 regular parking spaces and 13 pull-through trailer spaces to the Post Falls Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) lot.

This alleviates the congestion around the County Administrative buildings for VIN inspections of RVs and larger vehicles. This project is complete. Citizens are encouraged to take their towed or larger vehicles to the Post Falls DMV rather than the Coeur d’Alene DMV located off Government Way.

County Fairgrounds RV Park

Locals and visitors to the Kootenai County Fairgrounds are aware the Fair hosts or puts on many very popular activities throughout the year. To better service the vendors and visitors who have traditionally parked their RV's on the open field, the Fair Board sought and received two State grants to install full service dedicated RV parking on the north side of the Fairgrounds next to the RV pump out station.

The RV Park Project is a multi-phased project. Phases one and two include the installation of utilities such as sewer, water and electricity, as well as over 25 camping pads. Phase three will add amenities such as BBQ grills, picnic tables other amenities.

Kootenai County Jail Expansion

The Jail Expansion Project includes a 30,000 square feet expansion with 22,000 square feet finished space. There is an 84 bed close-custody facility, a 28 bed medical facility, and a 10 bed inmate worked dormitory. This project is complete. The additional space will allow inmates that are being held in out of county facilities as far away as Yakama, Washington to be returned to Kootenai County to stand trial.
